Artwork 1 - Fever : Ubiquitous Celefaction.
Anger is a very strong emotion and it is related to an individual’s interpretation when being offended, wronged or denied which most often than not, results in retaliation. The first piece is entitled 'Fever : Ubiquitous Calefaction’ which basically means inescapable inflammation. This was to represent the times when anger is just inescapable. It engulfs you entirely and you succumb to the emotion which is why the picture itself has many fiery elements. The flames are made to look as though they are licking picture where the heat is everywhere.
Artwork was executed in only illustrator as I find I am more familiar with the program. Illustrator also allows for more fine and exact lines which is dire for my work.
I then uploaded my final sketch into illustrator. I gave it it's own layer and entitled it 'original sketch'.
I then used the pen tool on a new layer to painstakingly trace each line. This was done by zooming into the original sketch. I also used the shapes tool to aid me in obtaining elliptical or square shapes but the majority of it was organic shapes. When working on the artpiece I did not fill in the tracings but worked with it empty to ensure I did not miss out on any pieces that needed to be traced for I feared overlapping may happen.
This view is after I had finished tracing the entire design and inking it in with black.
This is how it looks when I was working on it, not filled. As you can see, there is just a lot of traces using the pen tool.
This is how it looks without the 'original sketch'.
This is the completed version without the 'original sketch'.
Afterwards I drew a rectangle fitting the canvas size using the shapes tool. I then fiddled around with colors as well as the gradient tool. I used very bright reds for this one to depict fire and being fierce. Although it looks as though there is just one color, the gradient was very subtle with tones varying very little from one another.
This is my final work in illustrator.
